James Willis : Painting with Imagination (using water soluble oils)

James trained at The University of Chester studying Fine Art and Music and at the University of London where he gained
an MA in History of Art. He is well known for his architectural paintings and has a new exhibition which opened last
Thursday 16th May at The Old Royal Naval College, Greenwich. It features 25 new watercolours of Greenwich and
Venice. He loves painting buildings in both oils and watercolours and has been called the Canaletto of Hitchin!
He travels a great deal and is a compulsive sketcher when away. These studies inspire his paintings back in the studio. His travels over the next twelve months will include Tuscany, Venice, Puglia in Italy, Jerusalem and Petra,Liverpool and India. Importantly these trips will furnish him with ideas
for his first commissioned book – Painting Buildings in Oils, which is due to be published in early 2021.
His local groups are still flourishing and he is much in demand as a lecturer and tutor. James is currently associated with Arttutor.com, Art Safari Painting Holidays, The Artist Magazine, Royal Greenwich, The Bartlett School of Architecture, UCL and many other organisations.
