About the Society

The Society was formed in 1984 by Marji Daisley and members of her family.

The first meeting was held in April 1984 and the constitution written and agreed by the first committee.

An advertisement was placed in the Biggleswade Chronicle inviting any people interested in art or craft to come along to an informal meeting at the Weatherley Centre to register their interest.  The committee were overwhelmed by the number who attended that meeting and it was decided that due to the number interested in developing their art skills the Biggleswade & District Art Society should be formed.  In June 1984 the Society was represented at the Biggleswade Carnival by a float to promote the Society.

The Society agreed to meet on the third Tuesday of the month at the Weatherley Centre and this monthly meeting continues to the present day.

Marji remained an active member and President of the Society until her death in 2008.
